Meiosis is a two-part cell division process in organisms that sexually reproduce.
Meiosis produces
gametes with one half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell.
There are two stages of meiosis: meiosis I and meiosis II. At the end of the meiotic process, four
daughter cells are produced.
Each of the resulting daughter cells has one half of the number of chromosomes as the parent cell.
Isn't it nice to be able to accomplish multiple things at once.
Just imagine going to the eye doctor for a vision screening and while you are there, you can find out if you are at risk for
diabetes.
Yes, that's right, scientists have designed a vision screening instrument that can detect eye damage that is associated with diabetes.
In fact, this device detects a particular type of tissue damage that occurs even before the initial symptoms of diabetes.
The screening is non-invasive and involves taking a photograph of the eyes.
